Construction
on the Great Miami River Recreation Trail Dayton)
The Great Miami River Recreation Trail bridge at Rice Field in Miamisburg will be closed for about 60 days for reconstruction beginning Tuesday, May 31. The bridge will be widened and the trail will be straightened. The bridge’s load capacity also will be improved to accommodate emergency vehicles.
This was reported by the Miami
Conservancy District.
Three sections of the Great Miami River Recreation Trail between Dayton and West Carrollton are scheduled to be rebuilt between 2004 and 2006 because of severe cracks across the width of the trail.
Reported by Miami
Conservancy District
The three repair areas are located on levee-top sections of the trail:
Holes Creek to the East River Road ramp access in Moraine. Scheduled for repair this year.
Carillon Boulevard between Stewart Street and the Tait Station Low Dam in Dayton.
Hydraulic Road to Marina Drive in West Carrollton.

Changes and Improvements
Buck Creek Trail
(revised) I have removed all of the construction pictures from 2004 and replaced them with the finished 5.76 mile trail from the Springfield Museum of Art in downtown Springfield East to Buck Creek State Park.
Beavercreek Trail Connector
- I've ridden and taken the pictures of the new spur from the Creekside Trail in Beavercreek North about 3/4 mile to Rotary Park. This spur connects much of the City of Beavercreek to the entire trail system by making it unnecessary to ride down Factory Road to get to the trail at Beavercreek Community Park. The trail will be extended another 3/4 miles this Summer (2005) in order to connect the Hunter's Ridge neighborhood of Beavercreek to the trail.
Simon Kenton Trail Phase IV
- I've taken pictures of the newly constructed trail from Buck Creek Trail to downtown Springfield, Ohio. This 2 mile trail section will allow the Simon Kenton Trail to connect to the Little Miami Scenic Trail where it currently ends at I-70.
Now the Simon Kenton Trail is described on four web pages.
Great Miami River Recreation Trail
webpage (updated) I've updated this page by adding newer photos and descriptions to the
pages I took what was the basic page for the trail in downtown Dayton and broke it into
four. Now I have updated two completely with new pictures and descriptions and have started updating Stewart Street to Crains Run
Nature Park.
Prairie Grass Trail (East from London to Wilson Road 8.0 mi.) - I took pictures of the new trail East of London and have a new page in work where I'll put them with descriptions of the trail. The new page will describe the trail East of London from Maple Road to Wilson Road. The trail ends about 2 miles from the Franklin County Line and the Franklin County Parks and Recreation Department has been funded to extend the trail into Franklin County. The trail when built will be call the Camp Chase Rail Trail. See the map from the Columbus Dispatch that shows all of the existing and planned trails in Franklin County
Did you know that I am adding maps of the entire Miami Valley to the website? See South West Ohio Trails Map That way you'll be able to navigate to a a trail using the trail names list by County (first dropdown list at left on home page ) and the alphabetical list of trails in the Miami Valley (2nd dropdown list from left) as well as looking at a map of the entire Miami Valley region and then clicking on what portion (quadrant) that you wish to review. Then when you get to the second page you'll be able to click on any of the trails and be taken to that trail page.
