| As we Leave Morrow for Loveland and Milford we look back at the beautiful overhead span railroad bridge that brought us into the little town of Morrow. The picture at left is looking North back from where we came. | |
| We leave Morrow from Phegley Park on the South end of town at Center Street. Here we see the trail looking West. The trail is running North to South at this point. The left of this picture is South. We have just left the parking lot and are about to turn left onto the trail leading South from Morrow. Note that the old railroad crossing sign is still where the tracks crossed Center Street. | |
| Here at left, 1.6 miles South of Morrow, is Morrow-Cozaddale Road is crossing the trail. A cyclist out for his morning ride gives us a smile as he rides North. | |
| At right we are crossing Stubbs Mill Road 2.3 miles South of Morrow. There are two signs just after the Stop sign advertising that Valley Vineyards is on the left one third of a mile ahead. | |
| At left is a picture of Valley
Vineyards. If you
turn left (East) on Stubbs Mill Rd. and follow the trail for about 1/3 mile you'll come to a gravel path at
left that you can take to: Valley Vineyards 2276 US 22 & 3. 513 899-2485 Valley Vineyards is the second largest vineyard in Ohio. They have wine tasting, meals and cookouts. (See Map) |
|
| At right we have entered the town of
South Lebanon. We are looking back the way we came (North) to show you
the park, playground, picnic area and parking on both sides of the
trail. There is also a pay phone at the South Main Street road crossing. Just to the right
of the crossing is a building holding Eric Hatch Photography and the Riverside Loft.
There are soft drink machines on the
porch for your use. We are about to cross South Main Street. We are 4.83 miles from
Morrow.
If you turn North onto South Main Street and cross
the Little Miami River in about 4 blocks (cross W. Broadway Street),
you'll be at: |
|
| Upstairs from the photo studio in the
same building is the Riverside Loft a vacation rental photographed in
Winter. The trail is to the left of this photo of the building. You
can see the soft drink machines mentioned above on the porch of the
building. Riverside Loft 383 S. Main Street South Lebanon, OH 45065 513 494 2625 |
|
| Here 5 miles from Morrow is the SR 48 bridge crossing above the trail. As you can see my "trusty steed" waited patiently along the trail while I took this photo. | |
|
At about 6 miles South of Morrow we come to the spur West from the trail to the Lebanon Countryside Trail, which runs 8.2 miles to connect the Little Miami Scenic Trail to Lebanon. This trail section will also connect to the Miami 2 Miami Trail that when built, will cross Warren County and eventually connect with the Great Miami River Recreation Trail that is being extended South from Dayton to Hamilton. Just South of where this photo was taken is a old railroad marker plaque on the trail that says "Middletown Junction." We can assume that this railbed connected to Middletown in Butler County. |
|
|
At left we see the old overhead,
double span railroad bridge across the Little Miami Scenic River that
makes the: If you wanted to visit Paramount Kings Island one of the premier amusement parks in America you'd want to cross the bridge and turn left (South) at the first road crossing which is Mason-Monroe-Milgrove Road. Follow the road South for about two miles and cross Kings Mills Road and you'll be there. |
|
|
Here we see the old Peters Cartridge Factory on Grandin Road at 6.8 miles South of Morrow at Kings Mills. It was opened in 1878 and made cartridges for the United States and its allies in the First World War. Just West of this location across the Little Miami Scenic River is: Paramount's King's Island amusement park, one of the largest in Ohio and the US. On some days you can hear the screams from their many roller coasters. |
|
|
At left we are at the intersection of the trail with Old Highway 3c at Foster's Park in Foster Township about 8 miles from Morrow. You can also see a road leading off to left called Foster-Mainville Road. Just to the left there is an overhead bridge carrying SR 22 across the trail just ahead of us across Old Highway 3c. There is a livery stable just behind us and indoor restrooms at left. In this photo we are looking North to show you the livery stable and road by the trail . We are at Foster, OH. Just to the left up Old Highway 3c
is: |
|
| Here we are crossing Adams Road about 11 miles South of Morrow. The road crosses the trail and then follows in on the left becoming Cones Road | |
| We cross Township Highway 225 at milepost 13.3 from Morrow. We are almost into Loveland. You can see from the photo and the others how pretty the Little Miami Scenic Trail is in Summer and Autumn. | |
| We have arrived in Loveland. The picture at left looking North shows the old railroad bridge at 13.5 miles from Morrow. If you look to the right as you cross the bridge you'll see it was a two track bridge. Ahead of us on the right is Nisbet Park. | |
| Here we have just crossed the railroad bridge. At left of the picture is on street parking. C. Roger Nisbet Park is on the right of this picture with inside restrooms and water. On a weekend you can hardly see a car without a bicycle rack and parking is at a premium. The downtown section of the Little Miami Scenic Trail is perhaps one third mile from the railroad bridge entering town to Loveland Avenue | |
|
Just after we leave the railroad bridge and enter town across the street to right is the: Loveland
Bike & Skate Rental Loveland rents bicycles and tandems. Call them to reserve bicycles. (See their trail Maps)
|
|
