STP - Surface Transportation Program

Explanation of Projects -  Here we will explain what each approved project is, the current status of the project and the time scale for development.

  1. Beavercreek Station Parking Facility - This is a staging area next to the Creekside Trail that will include, parking, a rustic station with lighting, inside restrooms and water. The Station will be at the intersection of Old Mill Lane at the trail. Completion is planned for the Spring of 2011.

  2. Grange Hall Road Bikepath  (Nominal Name) -  This is a short bike spur that will run South from the intersection of the Creekside Trail and Grange Hall Road in Beavercreek. The approximately 1,600 foot spur will end at Research Blvd which is  SR-825. The exact route of the trail has not been determined and the planned completion date is 2010.

  3. Kettering Multi-Use Path - This is the extension of the Iron Horse Trail North from the City of Kettering's border with Centerville North through Delco Park to State Farm Park. The City of Centerville is building the trail North from Iron Horse Park to the city border with Kettering. The Iron Horse Trail from State Farm Park North to the Creekside Recreation Trail is complete.

  4. Dryden Road Multi-Modal Path(Nominal Name)  The current plan is to build this trail North  from Main Street (Formerly Old Sellars Road) in Moraine to Northlawn Avenue a distance of approximately 1.5 miles. Completion of this trail section is planned for the year 2011. Long range plans are to connect the City of Moraine to the Great Miami River Recreation Trail that runs along the city's West boundary in several places.

  5. Xenia-Jamestown Connector Bikeway - The Xenia-Jamestown Connector current exists from Jamestown West to Jasper Road. These funds will build a 400' tunnel under US-35 and extend the trail from Jasper Road. The route will be in a southwest direction that curves west and eventually northwest along Home Avenue to reach Xenia Station. Included in the funding is the money to build a bicycle bridge over South Detroit Street to get this trail and the Prairie Grass Trail (AKA Ohio to Erie Trail in Greene County) across the street to Xenia Station.

  6. Bellbrook-Spring Valley Connector - This trail spur will connect the city of Bellbrook East to the Little Miami Scenic Trail at Spring Valley. A Feasibility Study was awarded in Spring 2006 to plan the trail. The route is not yet determined. The Feasibility Study will recommend the best route between Bellbrook and Spring Valley
  7. Yellow Springs Bike Connector -  This connector will make access to the Little Miami Scenic Trail easier from Yellow Springs.

  8. Miami Valley Recreation Trails/Regional Signage Proposal - These funds will be utilized to implement uniform informational signage along many of the trails in Miami, Montgomery and Greene counties. These signs will not replace existing signs, but will supplement them and provide consistent trail information, to make the trail system easier to navigate. The Miami Conservancy District is leading the effort and has eight other participating partner jurisdictions including: City of Centerville, Washington Twp. (in Montgomery County), Centerville-Washington Twp. Park District, Five Rivers Metro Parks, Greene County Parks, Miami County Park District, City of Tipp City and City of Piqua. The new signs will first appear in 2007.

  9. Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Miami County)  [GMRRT] -Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Montgomery & Miami Counties) (GMRRT) This trail will start at Old Springfield Rd. in northern Montgomery County and run northward through Miami County to the Shelby County Line. Along the way are seven numbered sections and three cities: Tipp City, Troy and Piqua so together there are 10 separate trail project sections.  This construction is for:
    1. Section 3 - Tipp City North to the existing 1.6 mile trail in Concord Township at Dye Mill Road and County Road 25A.
    2. Section 4 - From Tipp City's Kyle Park the trail will run south down Canal Road through Monroe Township and Montgomery County to Old Springfield Road & connect with the completed Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Northern Segment) in Montgomery County

  10. Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Miami County) Section 5 -  This funding is for the engineering of the trail from Peterson Road to Eldean Road
    1. Section 5- This is called Section 5 of the trail. See the trail page for more detail.
  11. GMRRT Troy Bikeway Connector -  Construction of a new section of trail to replace the existing trail on the sidewalk atop the levee. Trail will be constructed in the flood plain of the Great Miami River.  Completed Fall 2007.
    1. City of Troy Section 9 - Read more about it on its trail page.
  12. Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Miami County) Tipp City
  13. Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Montgomery County)
    1. The trail has been known as the Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Northern Segment) for some years. This construction will complete the connection between the trail in Taylorsville MetroPark to the trail in downtown Dayton at Triangle MetroPark.  [Under Construction Fall 2007]
  14. Mad River Recreation Trail (Extension) - Construct trail from Eastwood MetroPark to Huffman MetroPark connecting to the T-Connector and Wright Brothers Bikeway. This project has been delayed by Norfolk-Southern Railways refusal to sell land to Five Rivers MetroParks.  See Mad River Recreation Trail .
  15. Wolf Creek Recreation Trail - This construction will close most of the gap between the trail in downtown Dayton called the Paul Lawrence Dunbar Connector from the Great Miami River to Wesleyan MetroPark with the main section of the trail called the Wolf Creek Recreation Trail that runs Northwest from the City of Trotwood, through Brookville to end at Verona.
  16. RiverScape Phase 3 - Five Rivers MetroParks is planning to build a bicycle hub in downtown Dayton at the RiverScape location at Monument and Riverside Drives.
  17. I-675 Pedestrian Bridge Project - This bridge will connect Beavercreek at the Fairfield Commons Mall across I-675 to Colonel Glenn Hwy and Wright State University. (more)  See the webpage on I-675 Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge
  18. Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Miami County) Section 5 -   This trail section will connect the Tipp City Nature Center North to the existing Section 1 of the trail along Dye Mill Road. See Section 5 webpage.
  19. Section 6 Great Miami River Recreational Trail Monroe/Concord Twp. North Leg - Construct  a bikeway & pedestrian bridge crossing over the Great Miami River at Peterson Road. This will enable Section 6  See trails in Miami County Section 6.
  20. Austin Pike Remodeling This first construction project to move Austin Pike North of the airport will also add a one mile bicycle trail in 2012. Eventually the plan is to run a trail route through Southern Montgomery County from Crains Run Nature Park at the Great Miami River Recreation Trail East along Austin Pike and the Social Row Road to connect to the Little Miami Scenic Trail at Spring Valley or Waynesville.
