Trail Description

At right we are still in downtown Spring Valley a block from the previous pictures. If you turn right here at Walnut Street in a block you'll be at Elm Street and in Walton Park. There is ample parking, a portable restroom and water here. This is a good staging area for the trail. Take US 42 through town South, and turn right on SR 725. If will lead around the back of the park.
On the trail you'll see milepost 43.5 (that is 43.5 miles to Milford riding South).

At left is the first thing we see after we leave Spring Valley. This is the US 42 bridge over the trail. In about 1/2 mile we reach SR 725 and if you turn right you'll come into the back side of Walton Park where parking, water and restrooms are available. We are 7.2 miles from Xenia at this point.
At right we are crossing  Roxanna-New Burlington Road. We have ridden to mile point 8.7 from Xenia and have passed a mobile home park on the right. At the left side we passed a large farm fertilizer factory. You'll see in their yard the large sprayers that are used to spray anhydrous ammonia onto farmer's fields. If you looked left at this corner you'd see a red "Croplan" sign. You can also tell you're here by the sounds of gunshots that you can hear coming from the left. Spring Valley has a firearms range in the area.

If you turn left here (East) you're on your way to the

At left we pass by what looks like a large swamp for about 1/2 mile. It's the  Spring Valley Wildlife Area. Closer to the trail is a wide ditch full of green water. The Wildlife area is accessible from a small ramp at right with signs "Wildlife Area" and a chain so you can't take your bicycles into the Wildlife Area.
After we leave the Spring Valley Wildlife Area you'll start seeing the Little Miami Scenic River on the right of the trail. The trail here is in shade but in about a mile you'll break out into a large meadow about a mile in extent. The trail is a bit above the beautiful farmer's fields with corn and soybeans ripening in the sun. Towards the end of the meadow can be seen some nice farm houses in the distance.
At right we are almost 13 miles from Xenia Station. This is the crossing of New Burlington Road. You'll be seeing more of the river through the trees and somewhat dense undergrowth on the right of the trail. The Little Miami Scenic River is always to the right of the trail. The road has been on our left and now crosses the trail and continues along our right.

I hope you have been noticing the signs across the street on left from each crossing. They say "Little Miami Scenic Park" and with pictographs tell you what is allowed in the park. This is the "Little Miami State Park"  and it extends from Hedges Road in Greene County all the way to Milford the trail's end.

At left you can see through the trees a low dam on the Little Miami Scenic River. You can hear the water going over the dam as you get near it and can see it (just) through the trees on the right of the trail. We are 13.5 miles from Xenia Station. The road at right is New Burlington Road that we crossed a bit ago.
We are getting close to Corwin. You can see a MapQuest  Map of Corwin here.
At right we are crossing Pigeon Street at 14.2 miles from Xenia Station. We are almost to Corwin.

We have arrived at Corwin. This is Corwin Avenue and we are 14.35 miles (by my odometer) from Xenia Station.
If you were to turn right here and follow Corwin Avenue for about 1/2 mile you'd come to US 42. If you turned right again in about 1/2 mile you'd come to "Der Dutchman Restaurant". We had lunch here the day I rode this section of trail. You will enjoy your lunch or dinner!
