.9 mile from
Prairie Grass Trail
To Central State University
Central State Connector The
Central State Connector is a spur from the Prairie Grass Trail North .9 miles to
Central State University.
| The Connector is about 4.3
miles from Xenia Station and before we get to Cedarville. There is a water
tower just to the left of the trail at Wilberforce-Switch Road.
The Central State Connector runs down Wilberforce-Switch Road from the Prairie Grass Trail to Central State University and Wilberforce College. |
|
|
The "Connector" was dedicated in 1999, and
was
named for Dr. Vivian F. Lewis, a longtime advocate of cycling in Greene County.
At left is the plaque which honors Dr. Vivian Lewis, a CSU faculty member, and long time advocate of bicycling trails in Greene County. It's at the corner of the intersection of the main trail and the Central State Connector. In the photo above the plaque is just to the right of the photo. |
|
| Here we are heading down the "Spur" to Central State University. The water tower in the background at right of the photo is on the campus of the University. At left is Wilberforce-Switch Road. | |
| The .9 mile spur connects to the
Prairie Grass Trail at Wilberforce-Switch Road and follows it to US Route 42.
The trail crosses
US-42 and enters Central State University. At left we see the trail
crossing SR -42 and entering the CSU campus. It is hoped that steps will be taken to make the trail available to Wilberforce College, which is nearby by adding additional trail to the Wilberforce campus.

|
| When I was riding this trail in 2004 I met a lot of nice people. This couple at right was out for their "morning ride." | |
| I rode this trail in August 2004 last
with Glenn Oster a friend from Pittsburgh, PA. Mr.
Oster has written several trail reviews that are on this
website.
We met a group of cyclists who had come all the way from Texas! to ride our trails. At left is a picture of some of them. They had yellow jerseys on as a group and there were about 10 - 12 of them all over 60. In the background is the water tower at the spur to Central State University |
