Commemorative cycling jersey unveiled for 2012 Greene Trails Cycling Classic

Xenia, Ohio---Honoring the railroad heritage of Xenia and beyond, the 2012 Greene Trails Cycling Classic official jersey design has just been revealed and reflects the transition from trains to trails in the region.

Jerseys can be pre-ordered in the next week by those participating in the Greene Trails Cycling Classic or by those who want to buy a jersey in support of the event.

The four-day cycling events will be held July 19 to 22 and based at the Fairgrounds Recreation Center, Xenia.  Hosted by Greene County Parks & Trails, Greene Trails Cycling Classic is sponsored by Miami Valley Hospital, K & G Bike Shop, National Aviation Heritage Institute, and Five Rivers MetroParks with more opportunities for partnering available.

Two new rides---the Geocache ride on the Ohio-to Erie Trail and a self-guided history ride on the Little Miami Scenic Trail have been designed especially for local riders.  Riders can choose to sign up for one to four days based on their schedules. The popular 100-mile Century Ride from Xenia to Miamiville will also be held.

“We really want to encourage local riders to participate in our Greene Trails Cycling Classic,” says Greene County Parks & Trails Event Manager Andrea Malavich. “We have cyclists return year after year from as far away as California, North Carolina and Mississippi. Our new rides will offer something to local riders they can’t experience on a day-to-day basis.”

All funds raised by the event benefit the maintenance of the 62 miles of paved, multi-use trails in Greene County.
