*Miami Valley - The Miami Valley consists of the counties that surround Montgomery County (Dayton) and Greene County (Xenia). They are Montgomery, Greene, Clark, Champaign, Miami,  Madison, Preble, Warren, Clermont and Hamilton.

Butler County Trails 

• The Great Miami River Recreation Trail  GMRRT (Butler County)  (to be constructed from Dayton to Hamilton)

  • Trail North from Hamilton to Rentschler Forest Preserve - In Planning

  • Trail in Hamilton - 5  miles - Main-High Bridge South to Waterworks Park (In Fairfield) 

• Miami 2 Miami Trail  - Under Construction. To be built in Butler and Warren County. Connects Little Miami Scenic Trail to the
  Great Miami River Recreation Trail 

Champaign County Trails 

• Simon Kenton Trail  -  Springfield (Heritage Center) to Urbana YMCA  - 17.9 mi.

Clark County Trails 

• Buck Creek Trail   Veteran's Park (Plum Street ) to Buck Creek State Park  - 6.8 mi
   Connects to Simon Kenton Trail.

• Simon Kenton Trail - Heritage Center in downtown Springfield, crossing Buck Creek Trail to Urbana YMCA   - 17.9 mi.

• Little Miami Scenic Trail in Clark County  - I-70 to Heritage Center 3 miles (in Planning)

• The Tecumseh Trail (To be Built 2009) 

• Three Counties Trail - See Montgomery County (In Planning) 

• Trail South from New Carlisle to Park Layne Manor (In Planning) 

Darke County Trails 

• Union City Gateway - (In Planning) - Trail crosses Ohio-Indiana border to connect trails in Ohio with those in Indiana. 
  

Fayette County Trails  (Also Ross and Highland Counties)

• Tri-County Triangle Trail -  (Information on their website) - See Map of Trail  - This trail has completed approximately 30 miles of a planned 62 mile trail from Washington Court House (Fayette County) Southwest to Chillicothe (Ross County), West from Chillicothe to Greenfield (Highland County) and North from Greenfield to Washington Court House. 

Greene County Trails

• Creekside Trail & Creekside Recreation Trail  - Xenia Station to Dayton 17.8 mi.

  • Beaver Creek Trail Connector - From Community Park North to Veteran's Park .7 mi.

• Prairie Grass Trail- Xenia to Cedarville,  South Charleston and London, Ohio  37.6 mi.

• Little Miami Scenic Trail - Springfield to Little Miami Golf Center (Newtown Road) 75.9 mi.

  • Ellis Park Spur - North of Yellow Springs East to Ellis Park .36 mi.

• T-Connector - Wright Brothers Memorial to Huffman MetroPark (Includes connectivity to Wright Brothers Flying Field

• Wright-Brothers Bikeway - Wright Brothers Memorial to Fairborn 5.0 mi.

• Xenia-Jamestown Connector - Xenia to Washington Court House (when complete) 12.0 Jasper Road to Jamestown and Fayette County line. [Fall 2007 Being extended to Fayette County line an additional 4.3 miles] 

• Xenia Station - The hub of the trails centered in Xenia, Ohio

Hamilton County Trails 

• Ohio River Trail  - Village of New Richmond West along Ohio River to Lunken Airport 16 miles (In planning)

Madison County Trails 

• Prairie Grass Trail - London East to Wilson Road 8.1 mi (being paved in 2007) 

Montgomery County Trails

• Creekside Recreation Trail - (See above)

• Iron Horse Trail 5.4 miles (See Creekside Recreation Trail above)

• Iron Horse Trail - in Kettering and Centerville (Planned 5.5 miles) 

• Paul Laurence Dunbar Connector - (Downtown Dayton via Wolf Creek)
  3.6 miles To connect with Wolf Creek Recreation Trail (see below).

• Great Miami River Recreation Trail - Downtown Dayton 22.6 mi. (both sides of Great Miami River)

• Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Northern Segment) - Taylorsville MetroPark towards downtown Dayton 7.0 mi (not completed to downtown Dayton) [Additional 7.5 miles of trail from Triangle MetroPark to connect with existing trail -To be completed in early 2008]

• Mad River Recreation Trail - Eastwood MetroPark to downtown Dayton 2.8 mi.

  • Mad River Recreation Trail Northern Bank - .5 mile Point Park to Webster Street and Deeds Park. 

• Stillwater River Recreation Trail - Englewood MetroPark South towards Dayton, 2 mi. (not completed to downtown Dayton).

• Great Miami River Recreation Trail - Sinclair Park to Island MetroPark on Stillwater River - 3.8 mi

• Stewart Street Bikeway - Great Miami Trail to University of Dayton,  0.5 mi.

• The Great Miami River Recreation Trail [GMRRT] in Warren & Butler Counties - (In planning) to run from Dayton South to Hamilton.

• Wolf Creek Recreation Trail - Trotwood to Verona via Brookville, 13 mi.

• Three Counties Trail (Nominal Name) [Trail in Planning] - Trail follows Norfolk Southern right of way from Eastwood MetroPark (Montgomery County) Northeast to Huffman MetroPark (Montgomery County). There it connects via the T Connector  to the 
  Wright Brothers Bikeway  which goes into the City of Fairborn.  The new trail continues Northeast into Greene County and connects the North side of Fairborn to the trail system. Still following the railbed it runs into Clark County and finally ends in Enon a total of 15.1 miles. Plans are being made by Five Rivers MetroParks, Greene County Recreation and Parks and National Trails Parks and Recreation District (Clark County) to cooperate to build this "Three County Trail" and eventually connect it in Clark County with the
  Buck Creek Trail. 

Miami County Trails

• Great Miami River Recreation Trail Section 1  - (Miami County) Concord Township - 1.6mi

• Great Miami River Recreation Trail Section 2 - (Miami County) Troy South to Dye Mill Rd -  2.5 mi.

• Great Miami River Recreation Trail Section 5 - (Miami County) North of Troy (Under Construction) 

• Piqua Activities Trail For Health (P.A.T.H.) -  In Piqua. Troy-Sydney Rd. to Spiker Rd, 5.5 mi.

• Canal Run  - In Piqua.  French Park North to Water Plant, 2.2 mi.

• The Rivers Edge - In Piqua.  Lock 9 Park North to Roadside Park, 3.6 mi.

• Tipp City Trails -  Canal Lock Park via City Park to Nature Center 2 mi.

• Troy's Bike Trail - Troy North to Lytle Road 6.4 mi.

  Preble County Trails 

• No trails built as yet. Preble County representatives are working with the Ohio/Indiana Greenway Connector Steering Committee

  • Railbed exists from Verona Southwest to New Paris near the Indiana border at Richmond, Indiana. Plans are being made to build on this railbed and possibly connect to the Wolf Creek Recreation Trail that ends at Verons. 

Warren County Trails

• Lebanon Countryside Trail  - Little Miami Scenic Trail to Lebanon; 8.2 mi.

• Great Miami River Recreation Trail (Warren County) - Under Construction 

  • Crains Run to Franklin 3.7 miles 

  • Franklin to Middletown - Not yet on contract

  • Middletown Section  - Germantown Road (SR-4) South to Oxford State Hwy. (SR-73)  6.56 mi.

  • Trail from Middletown South to Rentschler Forest Preserve - In Planning

Connected Trails in the Miami Valley   - I am beginning to call the emerging trail system in the Miami Valley the "Miami Valley Trails System." As of 2008 there were by my count  206.0 - miles of connected trail in the system. The trails that are connected going from North to South are as follows:
