Towler Road Spur
Connects to Creekside Trail
in Xenia
Runs West .70 miles to West Side Park
| The Towler Road Spur
starts where the Creekside Trail crosses Towler Road about one mile or
so North of the US-35 crossing in downtown Xenia. Here we see Towler
Road. At the right (out of the picture) is a parking lot for Sol Arnowitz Park.
The Towler Road Spur goes to the left (West) from the Creekside
Trail.
There is also a short spur through Sol Arnowitz Park to the East that comes out where Leigh Avenue dead ends at the park. |
|
| In this image we have crossed Towler Road and are looking West on Towler Road at the beginning of the Spur. | |
| We have stopped the car and I have taken a picture .20 miles down the Towler Road Spur looking West (towards the end of the Spur). Just beyond that old piece of concrete you see in the background, the trail becomes unpaved for about a .20 of a mile. You can ride it but it's not paved yet. | |
| We are about .40 of a mile from the Creekside Trail. This is a truck depot and we are looking East towards the Creekside Trail. As you can see the trail at this point is just an old track. | |
| In this photo we are standing in the same place at the truck depot but I have turned around and we are looking West towards West Side Park. You can see the trail alongside the road behind the car and going next to the old white building in the background. At this point the trail is paved again. | |
| We have continued down Towler Road. We are parked in front of a cell phone tower. In this photo we are looking back up the trail (East) toward the Creekside Trail. You can see the same old white building at the truck depot in the background. We are about one-half mile from the Creekside Trail. | |
| Here I am standing in the cell phone parking lot and looking diagonally across the intersection of Towler Road which continues to the right and Sheelin Road and runs left in the photo (South). This is our first picture of West Side Park. | |
| Here I have crossed the road and the photo is looking South alongside Sheelin Road. The park, with a skate board area in the foreground runs alongside Sheeling Road. | |
| This photo shows you some more of West Side Park and its facilities. The brown building in the background contains restrooms but I think it is open only when there is a game going on. | |
| We are at the South end of
West Side Park on Sheelin Road. The photo was taken looking North at the
park. There is a parking area here.
I expect that the Towler Road Spur was built (but not finished in 2009) to provide access to the Creekside Trail for the local neighborhood and not for Creekside Trail users. |
