Two Trail Ribbon Cuttings in June

New piece of the Simon Kenton Trail ready for its debut!

The extensive system of trails in the Miami Valley continues to grow, piece-by-piece, through the hard work and dedication of many organizations in the Region.  Early in June 2012, trail users and supporters have two opportunities to celebrate new trail segments as they formally open to the public and add to our best in the nation system!

Simon Kenton Trail

Join the Simon Kenton Pathfinders on Sunday, June 3 at 2:00 pm at The Depot in Urbana, OH for a ribbon cutting for the first piece of the planned trail to Bellfontaine! The new segment starts at The Depot in Urbana and reaches all the way to Grimes Airport. More details on the SKP web site, here. This is a great start for the Pathfinders' vision to take the trail "To The Top" of Ohio - Bellefontaine. The event will be held at The Depot, 644 Miami Street, Urbana, OH.

Great Miami River Trail

Join the Miami County Park District and other dignitaries on Friday, June 8 at 10:00 am for the opening of the latest section of the Great Miami River Trail on the north side of Troy.  This new trail, generously funded by the Duke Foundation, connects the trail from Lytle Road to Eldean Road, and is a vital piece in the effort to connect Piqua with the Miami Valley Trails network. The ceremony will be held on the trail at the Troy Apostolic Church, 1624 North County Road 25A, Troy, OH. For more details, click here!

The public is welcome to come out and be a part of the celebrations for these new trails!
