4th Little Miami Half Marathon and 10K

The Little Miami Half Marathon and 10K will be celebrating its fourth year in Morrow on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 7:30 a.m. The Little Miami Half Marathon and 10K is a flat and fast scenic race run along the banks of the Little Miami River. The entire course is run on a shaded bike path, which is a big bonus during Ohio’s humid summer months.

The race starts and finishes in Morrow, OH, just a few miles east of King’s Island, and travels through South Lebanon and Kings Mills. Runners receive a technical running shirt in both men’s and women’s sizing, finishers medals for all half marathoners, chip timing and great post race food at the finish. Registration is now open at www.ohiorunning.com.

Last year the race welcomed more than 550 finishers. While Kevin Herd of Maineville was the winner on the quick course in 1:14:13, a different runner stole the show. Mike Fremont, 90, of Cincinnati, set a single age world record at the half marathon. Fremont completed the 13.1 mile course in two hours, 56 minutes, and 26 seconds.

The event benefits Friends of the Little Miami State Park and Ohio State Parks. The Friends is a nonprofit organization devoted to the preservation and enhancement of the Little Miami State Park. They assist park management with development planning, routine maintenance, capital improvements, safety concerns, parking issues and promotions.
