Major Taylor Birthday Ride

Come join us as Major Taylor Cycling Clubs from around the world celebrate Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor (November 26, 1878 - June 21, 1932) "The Worchester Whirlwind". Major Taylor won the sprint event at the 1899 world track championships in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to become the first African American to achieve the level of world champion in cycling and the second black athlete to win a world championship in any sport.

This is a social/family ride (all are welcome) and will be at a leisurely pace. We will ride from RiverScape MetroPark (111 E. Monument Avenue, Dayton, OH 45402) towards Huffman Dam on the bike path. The ride will be between 8 and 15 miles depending on the weather. We have a turnaround point at Eastwood Park for those who prefer a shorter distance. There will also be a longer route available for those who desire to go father (if we are blessed with good weather). Wear your layers as appropriate. We look forward to seeing you there!!
