Farrington Reserve Access

The Ohio Department of Transportation recently announced that the Peterson Road Bridge between Troy and Piqua will be closed starting on February 8, 2024. The closure will remain in effect through August 2024. This closure is needed to undertake a project to completely replace the Peterson Road Bridge over the Great Miami River.

Here's an important note: this bridge replacement project will NOT result in a closure or detour of the Great Miami River Trail.

This project, however, is very close to the trail and a very popular trailhead for getting on the GMR Trail - Farrington Reserve - a park managed by the Miami County Park District. Vehicular access to Farrington Reserve will still be possible FROM THE EAST off of Peterson Road, but not from the west or from CR 25A. There is no indication that any of the amenities or portions of the property at Farrington Reserve will be impacted by this project either.

An ODOT representative indicated that later in the project re-paving of Peterson Road may create a short duration closure or detour of the Great Miami River Trail where it crosses Peterson Road. When more information is known about that possibility, an alert will be added to the Detours and Closures page.
