GMR Closed near Dayton Canoe Club

Starting July 20, The Miami Conservancy District is closing the Great Miami River Trail where it crosses over the roof of the Dayton Canoe Club clubhouse near the Helena Street Bridge. This spot has been patched again and again over the years — time to fix it for good.

For about 30 days, crews will replace the worn concrete deck, rebuild the joints, and stop water from leaking into the clubhouse below. The result will be a much smoother trail and water tight roof. Trail expected to reopen around August 18.

A signed detour will route you around the closed section the whole time. Thanks for your patience while MCD keeps this trail in shape.

Fun fact: this stretch is part of the Dayton Loop — the original 8 miles of bike trail MCD built through downtown Dayton back in 1976. That makes this loop 50 years old this year.
