
The heavy rains and high water at the beginning of April 2025 have washed out a section of the Great Miami River Trail in downtown Dayton, near the Dayton Art Institute. The location is on the "river-right," north (northwest) side of the river, just west of the I-75 overpass.
Large metal plates have been placed where the path used to be as a temporary measure. See picture below for current conditions.
The section is not closed. Walking and walking bikes over these plates can be accomplished safely. However, this may not be a passable area for those using mobility devices such as a scooter chair.
A project will be needed to restore the trail later this year. Miami Valley Trails will post alerts for that work once it is scheduled.
