Ride the Aviation Trail

Author and journalist Christine Negroni took a multi-day bicycle ride along the Miami Valley Trails in April 2017 to experience the aviation sites along the way. Her article, "A Bike Ride Through Wright Brothers Territory" was recently published online by the Smithsonian Institution's Air & Space magazine. It will be published in their print edition later this year.

Negroni ventured to sites in Dayton, Fairborn, Urbana and Troy over a seven-day adventure. She met with numerous professionals in the Miami Valley who work to preserve this rich aviation history. Some of these folks, like Ranger Ryan Qualls (pictured with Negroni, from the article - photo credit Christine Negroni) and Steve Wright also are cyclists and joined her for parts of the journey. The article is a wonderful example of the tourism potential of the Miami Valley Trails. We greatly appreciate Ms. Negroni's interest in coming to ride the trails to the aviation sites, and the Smithsonian Institution's decision to support the article and its publication.
