Miami Valley Cycling Summit 2013

The 2013 Miami Valley Cycling Summit Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the 2013 Summit will be held in downtown Springfield on May 31, 2013, in the newly constructed Hollenbeck Bayley Conference Center. The planning team is working diligently to ensure that the 2013 event will be the most successful yet. The Miami Valley Cycling Summit is an event aimed at reaching cycling advocates, policy makers, and the local business community and conveying to them the importance of a vibrant cycling community.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources Announces Trails Grants

COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) announced that 14 recreational trails in Ohio have been selected to share a total of $1,689,759 in federal funds through the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). While none of these projects are in the Miami Valley, development of trails across Ohio is always good news.

“We are always encouraging people to get out and enjoy Ohio’s scenic outdoors,” said Deputy Director Glen Cobb. “With these grants we can help improve the quality of our trails so that more visitors can benefit and have a positive experience.”

P.E.D.A.L. is an urban bicycle ride organized by Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park.

P.E.D.A.L. is a bicycling experience with an emphasis on the historic features connected to the stories of the Wright Brothers, aviation, and Paul Laurence Dunbar.

Iron Horse Trail in Dayton

Bridge construction on US 35 results in intermittent closures/detours of the Iron Horse Trail where it passes under US 35. The closed section is from the northern-most end of the trail (where it connects to the CreeksideTrail) and Linden Avenue. The closures occur during typical daylight working hours on weekdays. The trail is typically re-opened for public use on weekends.

The suggested detour uses Linden Avenue, Smithville Road, and Burkhardt Avenue.  See the image below for more detail.


Peace Ride/Peace Uncorked

Peace Ride: We'll meet at Peace on Fifth at 6:00 pm, and ride to the International Peace Museum for a private tour, followed by a ride to Missing Peace Art Space. It's a short route (about 3.5 miles) and will be done "Courteous Mass" style. The ride is free.


Meet at "Peace on Fifth" - 519 East Fifth Street, Dayton, OH (in the Oregon District).


Ruth T. Bentley Memorial Ride

The Simon Kenton Pathfinders’ 13th Annual Fund-raiser Bike Ride

Ruth’s family is sponsoring this year’s Simon Kenton Ride in her memory. Throughout her life— even into her 80s—Ruth rode a bike. She helped spread the joy of bicycling as a strong supporter of the Simon Kenton Pathfinders and the Simon Kenton Trail.

We invite you to ride in her memory and for the future of the Trail!


Clinton County Tour de Farm

The Fourth Annual Tour highlights sustainable agriculture.

A bike tour of small, sustainable farms in Clinton County. There are 6 farm stops along the way and it will be approximately 36 miles. Registration is $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the ride. Proceeds benefit the Grow Food Grow Hope Garden Initiative. Local produce will be available for purchase at the stops, so bring cash and a bag!

City of Springboro Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan Public Meeting

The City of Springboro through its Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) will be holding a Public Meeting on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. regarding its Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan. The Meeting will take place in the Community Room located in the Springboro City Building located at 320 West Central Avenue.
