Ride along with the Greene County Parks & Trails Trail Sentinels for a family-friendly winter ride along the Little Miami Scenic Trail from Xenia Station to Old Town Reserve for a total of 6.2 miles. Prizes will be awarded for the best holiday-themed bicycle decorations. The ride will be cancelled in the event that trail conditions are unsuitable for cycling. Riders must be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by an adult. Bike helmets are required. This ride is held in cooperation with Xenia's Hometown Christmas celebration and GCP&T's Santa Holiday in the Park. FREE
You are invited to the ROBERT J. SHOOK BRIDGE DEDICATION on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 3:00 pm. Come to the Peterson Road parking lot for a shuttle to the bridge. The celebration will be hosted by The Miami County Park Board and Executive Officers. They look forward to seeing you at this historical dedication of a beautiful bridge which completes the connection between Troy and Piqua along the Great Miami River Trail.
The City of Xenia is holding a special dedication of the new Trail Town designation (Buckeye Trails/North County Trails) at the September 5th first Friday event at 6:00 at the bike hub at 3rd and Detroit – where the Eavey building is, and entrance to the Xenia Station. There will be a hike from Nicks (on N. Detroit in Xenia) starting at 5:00; culminating with a ceremony at the Eavey Building with City mayor, council members and Buckeye Trail representatives at 6:00.
The ride will start out from the Huffman Prairie Flying Field Interpretive Center along the Huffman Prairie Trail (parking/restrooms available) to Deed's Point and McCook Field and back along the Mad River Trail. This 14 mile round trip will also include a stop for a picnic, so make sure to pack a lunch.
